CALAMBA CITY, Laguna -- Around 50 ‘foster’children and employees from Calamba’s Reception and Action Center (RAC) were beneficiaries of the SM City Calamba’s “ChriSMiles” or Christmas Smiles gift-giving project on Thursday. Karen Christine H. Tiqui told PNA that this year’s recipients from the SM Cares Foundation and the mall’s employees’ volunteerism program for supporting disadvantaged communities and sectors especially the abandoned children and foster street children housed in the social welfare home here. Tiqui said SM City Calamba administration employees brought cheers and smiles to children housemates who have long wanted to bond with loved ones in this season of caring and giving and engaged them in fun-filled Christmas activities. She said that the mall’s Human Resources Manager Cynthia Marie Nebrao and mall manager Abigail Mole spearheaded the gift-giving to RAC “house parent” Felma Ortega and the children beneficiaries. Nebrao said the event sported the contracted project title “ChriSMiles” as it aims to bring smiles to the chosen beneficiaries and brighten their hopes that a much bigger family although not by “blood kin” are there to care and share with them the blessings of the Yuletide Season. RAC children housemates and employees were treated to various parlor games that delighted them and snacks, mascot appearance and gift-giving activities. The mall employees volunteered their time and resources to make sure the kids-housemates spend the wonderful holiday season they deserve. (PNA)
